Is Assigning Everything a "Racial Identity" Harmful to Society? by Michael Ramsey (Opinion)

I know I haven't posted an article in a while. I also know that none of my articles have even been remotely political. As I have gotten older, my perspective on certain issues has changed dramatically. I don't believe I even really cared about political or social issues until 2020 when political turmoil was all over the country. Now before I dive into my take on society's obsession with race, I must give a little background to explain why I may have come to certain conclusions.  First, I am a Christian. I am not a CINO (or Christian in name only) I am an actual practicing, bible-believing Christian. Second, I am bi-racial. I know that might seem counter-productive to even mention my racial identity when this article is about how assigning everything a racial identity is harmful. However, I do believe the fact that I am bi-racial (half black, half white) has a lot to do with my understanding of race, diversity, and racism. Third, I am a conservative.  Yes, I know what yo

Phil Wickham & Bethel Music album?

If you are a fan of modern worship music, then you probably have heard of Phil Wickham. Well for the last ten years his most popular songs have been writing collaborations with Bethel Music and Jesus Culture.     I had this idea that he calls over all these people he wrote with, and records an album titled "Phil Wickham: The Bethel Sessions (Live)". He calls his friends Jeremy Riddle, Chris Quilala, and  Kalley (who are no longer with Bethel Music, though Chris is still part of their affiliate church/group Jesus Culture) to come over to his church so they can record the album. Then he ask his good friend Brian Johnson to rally all the Bethel Music troops he wrote with (Brandon Lake, Cory Asbury, Zahriya Zachary, and himself) to come and record too! Maybe there will be appearances from Hillsong's Chris Davenport and Reuben Morgan, the Legend Matt Redman, the Passion Crew (Kristian Stanfill, Sean Curran and etc), Mack Brock formally of Elevation,  and Josh Farro!  This wo

Brandon Lake!

Brandon Lake is a very talented singer/songwriter/musician/worship leader. He recorded his first album in 2016 titled Closer and since then has just been climbing up. He went from a small town worship leader to a household name in 5 years. Most people have heard at least one of the songs he has co-written. Let's start with his first very popular song titled " This Is a Move" by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, then He goes on to sing with Matt Redman a song he co-wrote titled "We Praise You" which he also sings with Bethel.  Currently, probably his most popular song is with Elevation Worship titled "Graves Into Gardens." That's, not all he also co-wrote Rattle!, My Testimony, and God Said Live! on that same album! We haven't even got to his popular song "Talking to Jesus" with Maverick City and Elevation or "Communion" also with Maverick City and Featuring Steffany Gretzinger. He also has been on a Chris Tomlin song "I See You&quo

A Very Maverick Christmas - Maverick City Music

Calling all the worshippers, Calling all the worshippers!!! Are you worshippers or worship leaders at heart?   Do You love Christmas music? If so this album is for you!  My favorite Christmas worship album is Dwell: Christmas is sung by the Binions. My favorite song from there is Making Room! I had a chance to hear it live at the Habitation Conference 2019 and then I knew it was spirit-filled.  This album has a slightly more gospely feel overall than their past albums. They even brought in the Mav city Gospel Choir. When I talk about the album it will be from my favorite song to my least favorite. The first two songs I want to talk about are the ones with Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham. I don't know what is with Phil Wickham lately not only has he been a featured artist on three albums recently,  he has been in the spirit with his praise and worship album Hymn of Heaven.  I am actually praying for him because with this much anointing comes much testing!  Now to the songs lol. The f

Rivers: Sunday Mornings Live - Deeper Worship

YES!!! Deeper Worship y'all did it!  Rivers is the debut worship album from the worship team at Pastor William McDowell's church. I have been to the most recent Habitation Conference (Habitation 2019) and am currently attending his Deeper Worship Intensive.  In short, William McDowell is a major influence on my worship life. After the Binions, he is probably the person who has influenced me the most. After that would be Kim Walker-Smith, Steffany Gretzinger, and Israel Houghton.  The people featured on this album are no strangers to William McDowell fans or people familiar with his church. Trinity Anderson is most likely his successor, his Elisha for a lack of better words. She and another worship leader at his church, Chris Lawson, have been featured on his most recent album titled The Cry: A Live Worship Experience.  It also features Matt Gilman, who recently joined  William McDowell's church. Matt Gilman although new to William McDowell's church is not new to the wo

Homecoming (Live) - Bethel Music

Homecoming, when I first heard about this album I was thinking " That's an odd name for a worship album."  After listening to at least the first and last song ( and maybe a couple in the middle) the name makes total sense. I was super excited about this album, much more than the last album from Bethel Music titled "Revival's In The Air". Actually, most of the songs from that album are great songs they just took a while for me to realize it.  The first songs I will talk about are the song that you may have heard before. These would be, of course, Son of Suffering, Too Good To Not Believe, Hymn Of Heaven, My King Forever, and All Hail King Jesus.   My King Forever I like the song but I was expecting a spontaneous moment or something; since the song has been recorded by Josh Baldwin multiple times before now.   All Hail King Jesus was ehh. To be honest, I have not really been a fan of Bethany Wohrle (who lead the song on this album). I love the song since I he
